Konturen. Vasen der Berliner Antikensammlung in Freiburg

Published by Martin Flashar and Gerhard Hiesel. With a foreword by Wolf-Dieter Heilmeyer and an introduction by Volker Michael Strocka. Photographs by Wilhelm Gut. Drawings by Nina Fenn.

For summer 1998 a new presentation of the Berlin Collection of Antiques was planned. For this reason small contingents were to be see for a certain length of time outside Berlin. A special exhibition at the Archaeological Collection in Freiburg, with the addition of some pieces from their own collection, shows a view of main forms, typical handcraft techniques and decoration examples from a thousand years of ceramics production from late Mykenian times to the early Roman Empire days.
The illustrated brochure contains new coloured photos and short interpretations of 30 selected exhibits of the Freiburg exhibition. In addition to also being pleasing for amateurs, this excellent presentation of antique ceramics is also interesting for archaeological research, as the Freiburg vases and some of those from the Berlin collection are shown here for the first time.
