A. Mlasowsky, imago imperatoris
Portraits of roman emporers from a collection from northern germany
Schriften der Archäologischen Sammlung Freiburg - Volume 6.
Alexander Mlasowsky produced an extensive catalogue on occasion
of the exhibition imago imperatoris Römische Kaiserbildnisse
einer norddeutschen Sammlung in Freiburg. Thirteen emporers
are presented, each with one historical essay, after which each
exhibited portrait is discussed and classified in its period. Time
range reaches from augustus until gallienus (268 A.D.). In the introduction
questions are discussed on the former location and the cause of
creation of the portraits.
The catalogue gives an overall view of an important research area
of classical archaeology.
