Attic Grave Reliefs of the Late 5th and of the 4th Century B.C.
Compiled and processed by Johannes Bergemann.
Approx. 2700 monuments with over 3200 pictures.
This type of monument is one of the central areas of archaeological
research. Comprehensive corpora and a wealth of monographs and essays
open up the material to which all archaeologists are introduced
over the course of their studies. Researching the material often
takes weeks of browsing, collecting and checking. In contrast to
this, the over 160,000 individual entries in the database allow
rapid access to complex, iconographic, epigraphic, social, chronological
and geographic aspects. The descriptions of the picture motifs distinguish
simple motifs, types and patterns which can be called up individually
and in combination. In addition, over 900 descriptive and typological
terms were specially developed on the material. Allocations and
determinations are justified in a monograph
by the author. The book and the database can be mutually checked,
whereby the database comprises more monuments and pictures. The
database is available on CD-ROM.
Besides online
access an introducing
manual (in german) and a book
publication exist.
